Passion for space science led Dr. Fiorella Coliolo to choose her profession. With a master degree in astronomy, over the last 15 years she has collaborated with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), European Space Agency (ESA), aerospace industries, academia, science centres and museums, gaining considerable experience in scientific communication and in the organisation of strategic events at national, European and international level. She firmly believes that:
- Communication and outreach activities are enriching and stimulating from a human, cultural and social perspective
- It is essential to raise awareness about the importance of investing in space through innovation and technology to improve our knowledge, to boost jobs and economic growth
- Inspiring the younger generation is important for a sustainable STEM education programme in Europe and a future STEM workforce
She is currently involved in research activity with the Italian Space Agency on the role that Space can play in achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on Diversity and Inclusiveness
